Huntington Beach hosted official tournament organized by The National Footvolley Association (NFA) and California Footvolley
Brazilian Team with Footvolley legend Helinho and his partner Juninho won the Professional Division
The California Footvolley World Championship was organized by the National Footvolley Association (NFA), a non-profit organization, in the partnership with California Footvolley and its President Giordano Carretta.
The tournament kicked off on Friday with the Women’s tournament. Leah Morales, from North California, captain of the USA Footvolley Team who represented the USA in the Rio Olympics in 2016 won the tournament and take home the crown of “Queen of the Beach”. She beat Fabiola Zanella, also from California in the final match. The third place winner, also from North California, stayed with Erica W-Dubin followed by Yasmyn Andrade (4th place); Talita Pereira (5th place) and Tainá Dias (6th place).
The tournament also had the Pro Division clashing on Saturday and Sunday with the footvolley legend Helinho with his partner Juninho, both from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil taking home the trophy. They beat the doubles players travelling from Deerfield Beach, FL, Kim Barletta and Lucas “Kuka” Roque.
Coming in third place of the Pro division play was a team formed by the Brazilian Philippe Happ (“Shrek”) and the footvolley coach of San Diego Erick Kretzu.
California Footvolley Open was sponsored by Sports Page Soccer, Mikasa Sports USA, Tern Bicycles California Rehab and Sports Therapy, Frontier Communications and Footvolley.com.
The following is a list of events organized by NFA in 2017:
Baltimore Footvolley Cup – Baltimore, MD on the weekend of the 08th and 09th of July. This tournament will follow the same guidelines point system with up to 250 points in the NFA ranking in 2017 and will feature athletes from Professional and Pro-Am Division.
